Disregard – Disregard EP (2012)

disregard-5027564 Disregard is a four-piece metalcore/hardcore band from Massachusetts. They recently released a self-titled EP which can be streamed/bought at “name your price” on Bandcamp (link below).

The EP opens with “Hellion”, a crushing track with hard-hitting drums and powerful vocals. For the most part, the songs on Disregard sounds very similar to the more moshable songs from The Ghost Inside’s Fury And The Fallen Ones. The following tracks, “Forcefed” and “Foresight”, continue to put off a bit of a The Ghost Inside vibe, but they are a bit more hardcore-drive than “Hellion”.

Next, we come to my favourite song, the previously released “Confined”. From start to finish, this song is very impressive and it picks up some steam as it goes along. “Confined” has a nice little melodic segment to close out the song which flows nicely into the final track, a cover of The Animals’ “House Of The Rising Sun”. While this cover is a fun song and it’s a completely different genre than the original, I definitely prefer the original.

If you’re looking for something with a lot of melody and/or originality, you won’t find it here because there is very little melody on Disregard as it’s mostly just fast-paced, hardcore-influenced metalcore. On the other hand, if you’re looking for an extremely moshable release to get pumped up when listening to, you will most likely find what you sought in Disregard.
